As a part of their Gamescom announcements, Sony has revealed the Western release date of the PlayStation TV.

In North America, gamers can pick up the latest hardware oddity on October 14th for $99. The European release will follow a month later on November 14th for 99. Additionally, North America will have access to a special hardware bundle that includes a DualShock 3, HDMI cable, 8GB memory card, and a copy of Lego Movie: The Game for $139.

Australian gamers will have to keep waiting for an official release date, but should expect the mini-console to head to their shores in Spring 2015 for AUD$150.

Originally planned to cater exclusively to the Japanese gaming market, the PlayStation Vita TV (as it is known in the Asian territories) will play select PlayStation Vita, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation 1 titles via a DualShock 3 or DualShock 4 controller. No word yet on what titles will be compatible with the PlayStation TV, although it is safe to say that most games that do not rely heavily on touch, motion, or the system's front and rear cameras are strong candidates for compatibility.
