Borderlands 2 Coming To Vita

Say whaaaaaaaaaaa? Wub wub!

Hey remember that cool little sleek black thing with the screen on it that you keep tucked away someplace? Yes, your Vita! Remember that? Some people out there like to say there is nothing to play on the Vita, Sony isn't supporting it and it is just around to gather dust. Well, based on what I saw at E3 and what we've been seeing coming out of Gamescom that isn't the least bit true. We've seen literally dozens of new games in development that look fantastic.

That was BEFORE today's announcement from 2K Games that Gearbox's Borderlands 2 was being ported to the Vita! Yes, considered us as surprised as the next guy about this little tidbit. We had no idea it was coming but if they can really harness the Vita to make something approaching a full version of the game we will be floored.

For those that don't really follow video games, Borderlands 2 is a massive loot-based shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world full of sassy robots and mutated dogs. It's one of the better co-op experiences of this generation (up there with Saints Row 2) and features a veritable trove of DLC. Hopefully the Vita version will continue to support 4-player co-op!

Games like this and Killzone: Mercenary are showing that console-quality shooters can translate to the handheld arena in more than just a viable form. These games are shaping up to be worthy peers to stand next to their console brethren. With the imminent launch of the PS4 and the promise of remote play combined with a price drop, it really is a great time to get a Vita.
