Baseball season is right around the corner! Alright, it's actually still like 6 months until pitchers and catchers report, but it's never too soon to start thinking about MLB 12 The Show. The good folks at 989 Studios are already hard at work on the game, or at least on choosing their cover athlete. And this years choice is Boston Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez. The former Marlin, Ranger and Padre can hit for average and power, and was the rare infielder to be drafter first in the MLB draft.

"I feel very humbled to be chosen for the cover of MLB 12 The Show," said Gonzalez, who recently won his third Gold Glove Award. "I think most sports fans would agree it's a dream come true to be immortalized as the cover athlete for a video game so I jumped at the chance to work with a leading franchise like The Show—it's truly a great honor."

Clearly the man loves his MLB The Show. Great taste, A-Gon! And the love-fest apparently goes both ways!

"With a standout 2011 season in his first year with the Boston Red Sox, Adrian Gonzalez has cemented himself as one of the best all-around players in baseball," said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President, Product Marketing, SCEA. "Similarly, The Show has been the market leader and the highest rated, best-selling baseball video game franchise of all time. Therefore, Adrian was an easy choice and a perfect fit to represent the next installment of our critically acclaimed series, MLB 12 The Show."

Coming this March to both the PS3 and the PS Vita, The Show looks to continue it's multi-year run of being the best damn baseball game, period. Featuring all sorts of fantastic modes, top-notch graphics, and a deep statistical engine, the series has cemented itself as the clubhouse leader.

Look for way more info on the latest installment as the season gets closer and we get more details. Until then, continue to play last years excellent version!
