God Bless Nippon Ichi Studios America. They are the only ones who consistently see fit to take huge chances on games that aren't ever go to draw in a mainstream audience. NIS has long made a living finding the nichest of niche titles in Japan and translating them for the handful of Western gamers who know and appreciate what they are doing.

Now they are at it again, bringing over a Vita port of a PSP classic, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. For those of you not familiar with the series (and I imagine that is almost all of you) this is game that could sort of be described as an inscrutable version of an Ace Attorney game only with a surreal bear as the protagonist rather than a spiky-haired lawyer.

This port is an updated version of the original game that features the same zany cast of characters that are always finding themselves in thoroughly bizarre situations. You'll take on the role of Makoto, a student who heads off to a ritzy academy filled with the "ultimate students".

Unfortunately for him, soon after arrival he finds out that what's really going on is a Battle Royale with a sick mastermind who wants nothing more than chaos and bloodshed. It's up to you to figure out who the villain is and put an end to his nefarious plot.

I'd tell you more about the game, but not only should you find out for yourself, but it's also almost impossible to fully convey what's happening in the game. My advice? Wait for February 11th and then check back for our review and decide for yourself if you've got what it takes to face the challenge. In the interim, check out the latest batch of screenshots we just uploaded!
