BlazBlue is the hidden little gem in the fighting game world. It certainly doesn't have the mainstream credibility of series like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat or Tekken, but hardcore fans of the genre will tell you that the series is one of their favorites. We've already seen a pair of them hit this generation, and both BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift are well worth your time if you are jonesing for something a little different in your fighting games.

Sadly, neither was a huge commercial success, so we didn't know if we'd be seeing any more entries in the series, but our fears were unfounded, as not only is the updated BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND dropping on the PS3, it's hitting our new favorite handheld, the PS Vita as well. Can you say HELL YES!?

What's new in this release? Well, first and foremost is a brand new playable character, Relius Clover. Relius, aka "The Puppeteer" is a well known character to series fans, as he is the father and husband of series regulars Carl, Ada and Ignis. With his background in both science and magic, you can be assured he'll have some powerful and unique moves.

Of course there is more than just a new character being added. Among the other new features are:

- Enhanced Story Mode: Relive and rediscover the events that took place in BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger or venture forth into one of four all new story scenarios!

- New and Revised Game Modes to Explore: Take on the strongest of foes in Unlimited Mars Mode, dungeoneer your way to the bottom of Abyss Mode, or refine your skills in the improved Challenge Mode!

- Fully Revised Combat System: All characters, new and old, have been thoroughly rebalanced and armed with all new strategies and combos to take your game to the top!

- Improved Online Multiplayer: Battle it out in BlazBlue’s acclaimed online mode with all new multiplayer features, such as online team battles!

Our resident BlazBlue fanatic Scott Rodgers is already frothing at the mouth thinking about white-knuckling his Hori Fightstick in frustration and internet denizens work him over and laugh over their headsets. Check out some of the latest media we just uploaded and then hurry out and pre-order a PS Vita and a copy of the game!
