Three Yses and Three Legends
XSEED partners with Nihon Falcom to bring six PSP RPGs to the US.

We received word today that publisher XSEED Games has struck a deal to bring over a pile of PSP games from the venerable Japanese role-playing game developer Nihon Falcom. Falcom is probably best known for the Ys series of action RPGs, which debuted all the way back in 1987 on various Japanese computer systems. Ports and sequels then went on to propagate across a multitude of platforms, and these days the older games still pop up in ports and remakes, while all-new sequels are also developed. Unfortunately for English-speaking fans, localized versions of Falcom games tend to lag far behind or not come out at all.
Luckily, XSEED is stepping in to anglicize a few things, the first of which will arrive in "late summer." Ys SEVEN is the most current game in the series, having just been released last year for the PSP in Japan. At an as yet unannounced later date, Ys I & II Chronicles, a remake of the first two games will come, followed by Ys: The Oath in Felghana, which is a remake of the third. This should be exciting for PSP-owning fans of the series, but it also sounds like a great time for first-timers to get into it!
It's not all Ys news, though. An entire trilogy of recent Falcom games is coming as well, entitled The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, bringing the total number of releases to six. This trilogy is part of a long-running series that ties back into 1984's Dragon Slayer. The Legend of Heroes falls more into the traditional turn-based Japanese RPG mold, rather than the action RPG style of Ys.
