STACKED Gold
Like Fort Knox, baby. Except it's a poker game. So it's not like Fort Knox at all, that was just a clever play on words. Or not so clever.

Okay, fine, we'll admit it: we're sick of poker. Poker video games, televised poker tournaments, online poker commercials, celebrity poker games... about the only thing involving poker that we still love is that movie Rounders, but that's just because Ed Norton is dreamy. No, wait, we meant Gretchen Moll. Yeaaaaaah, she's niiiice.
But maybe our disdain for poker video games just stems from the fact that none of them thus far have gotten it right. Sure, you can play online and get a basic sense of what it's like with other people, but then you can do that on your PC too. For free. No, what's needed is a single-player game that has real personalities, and that will challenge you enough to actually make it something you can practice with if you're afraid of playing real people.
STACKED is that game, so says a certain Myelin Media. But then they're publishing it, so they're probably going to say that no matter what. Thing is, they've got what sounds on paper like a killer poker game in the works. The stamp of approval from poker bad boy Daniel Negreanu, a licensed adaptive AI system called Poki AI that actually learns how you play and adjusts things accordingly, MTV-branded online tournaments, and officially sanctioned games that could actually mean real internet (read: fake) fame.
Kinda interesting, no? After what seems like ages, the game has finally gone gold and been given the green light by Sony, hitting both the PS2 and PSP in just under a week. Rather than just being a dumbed-down port, though, the PSP version is actually a pixel-perfect complement to the PS2 version, allowing you to transfer a game save from one to the other and pick up where you left off, as well as online play between both platforms.
Ahaaaa, now you're interested. The game will retail for a mere $30 and hits on May 30th. Hmmm, sounds like 30's a lucky number.
