Since the day PlayStation Portable specs came to the forefront (for many of us, pre-E3 2004), Sony has been pounding home the point of a "connected future," where syncing up the sleek handheld with a PlayStation 2 would make for some seriously cool possibilities. But as the PSP's one-year anniversary comes and goes, save for some unlockable content here or there, we really haven't seen too much of this feature put to use.

If today's announcement from Myelin Media is any sign, though, Sony's ideal system-to-system chumminess may soon come to fruition. The up-and-coming publisher has revealed that its Texas Hold 'Em title, STACKED with Daniel Negreanu, will feature interoperability between the PlayStation 2 and PSP. For poker players, this means that on either platform, snug at home or on the go, they'll be able to maintain and continue their single-player progress. The wonders of technology are also making for cross-platform online play, which could mean a serious boost of a dual-platform online community looking to get in on the massive sanctioned multi-table tournaments. See? We can all play nice after all!

"STACKED continues to push the boundaries of video game technology with interoperability between the PlayStation 2 and PSP system versions of the game," offered Ken Woo, producer at Myelin Media. "In addition to the revolutionary learning artificial intelligence system, players will be able to compete online with other gamers on the PlayStation 2 or the PSP system for the first time ever, setting a new standard for online competition."

We'll find out just how the cross-platform card craze will fly once STACKED deals to retail in late April (or so says the official site). Keep 'er here for more.
