New Rock Band Unplugged Tracks

A lot of “meh” and one gem (and it’s FREE!)

Lucky, lucky owners of the PSP’s Rock Band Unplugged. Harmonix and MTV Games have announced 5 new tracks available for download for the portable version of their smash hit franchise. These latest tracks bring the total available tracks for download up to NINETEEN. Still a loooong way to go to catch up to it’s big brothers, nonetheless it is great to see more content coming. Now, whether or not this content will grab you, well, that’s another thing, isn’t it?

The Rock Band boys are not really futzing around trying to expand your musical awareness here, instead releasing four tracks from power players in the music industry. Available right now on the PSN and the Rock Band store, gamers can download The Dixie Chicks “Sin Wagon”, The Pixies “Here Comes Your Man”, REM’s “Losing My Religion” (true story, just two days ago I declared this the most overplayed song of all time, not including Happy Birthday) and Stevie Ray Vaughn’s “Pride and Joy” (he’s dead you know). All of these tracks are priced at $1.99 as usual.

The big news (and I am about to use bold font because it’s THAT big) is that GLaDOS and Jonathan Coulton’s “Still Alive” is also available as a free download. If you are asking yourself “What the hell is a GLaDOS?”, well then you clearly have not played “Portal”. Those that HAVE played Portal and gotten to the end credits will no doubt know EXACTLY what “Still Alive” is. Quite possibly one of the funniest songs of all time, “Still Alive” may well be the ONLY track I might have paid for, and the fact that they are offering it for free means that if you have RBU, go turn on your PSP right now and download this track before they come to their senses. Seriously, stop reading right now and go get it!
