[Gamers' Day 2007] The Chase Is On... Again
Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice proves you can never have too much chasing criminals down and shooting them in the face.

Hey, screw what the other guys said, we liked the first Pursuit Force, thank you very much. No, it wasn't perfect, but when was the last time you played a game where you got to scream around corners at 90 miles an hour while unloading a clip from an uzi into a dirty terrorist's car? Or sailed from the hood of yours in slo-mo while raining bullets down on more enemies? Probably not since the last Pursuit Force, and if it's been sooner, we'd like you to become our new best friend and tell us some of your fancy stories.
Speaking of stories, that was one of the biggest problems with the first game in that it basically didn't have one. Repetition was another one of the gripes, but we have to question how someone can honestly get tired of slo-mo flipping onto another car while shooting the driver right out of his seat. Still, it's understandable, and UK-based BigBig Studios is aiming to fix things really proper-like with the sequel, adding more variety, a story that unravels through the 50 or so missions in the game and re-tooling the difficulty (the European release of the original didn't even have checkpoints for the missions, so we approve).
Just for giggles, BigBig is apparently upping the number of vehicles and playable characters in the game too, and it seems the two are rather intrinsically linked. All we managed to squeeze out of a Sony rep was that you'd be able to finally fly a plane and a chopper, plus drive a fire truck. See, the new characters sort of drop in mid-mission and give you access to their skills (better driving, more firepower, the ability to fly a helicopter, etc.), which is a good thing, as it appears all the new weapons, vehicles and gangs will be pretty keen on throwing more at you than the first game's cop could handle.
Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice (excusing the slightly embarrassing title), actually looks like it'll improve on the first game in nearly every way while keeping all the parts that made us whoop and holler like a bunch of drunken frat boys every time we dove from a car to a boat in slow motion. Apparently there will also be some kind of multiplayer, but the deets on that will sadly have to wait; we heard someone else trying to pressure Sony about it and there was nary a peep. Hopefully E3 will reveal more.
