Get The Puck Out!

Easy, man, easy! Despite the suggestive headline, we refer only to NHL 07's much-awaited skate to retail today. Honestly.

With training camps opening their doors (we hear having teams do laps with their moneybags tied to their ankles makes for a great workout!) and the NHL begins to gear up for another season, Electronic Arts is right on cue with a welcoming ceremony of its own for the coolest game on earth. NHL 07 has arrived (on consoles, at least), which for sports fanatics, means its official time for a happy dance. On skates, no less.

Doesn't that sound the least bit appealing? No? Well shoot, son, then hopefully a new iteration in the long-running hockey series and its collection of icy new game mechanics and tweaks 'n' refinements will. Just get a load of that groundbreaking EA SPORTS Skill Stick, which not only asserts its significance by slapping on a caps-only homage to its creator, but also designates the analog sticks for full-on player control (left one's for skates, right's for the stick) and dare we say (as if we don't say it enough), intuitiveness.

Coupled with a sleek new presentation, an overhaul of AI and animation, a spiced up Dynasty Mode, and even Player-Specific Behaviors (keen-eyed Snipers find the open slots, Danglers stump the defense), NHL 07 is stacked enough to earn the title of the "most realistic hockey video game ever created." And if EA says so, it must be true!

So yes, NHL 07 has made its stride to stores today, and all that's left for you to do is stride on over yourself and tussle with the store clerk until you get your copy. Five minutes for battery!
