Space Robots

Widgets Odyssey arrives on PSN.

Yesterday saw the release of Widgets Odyssey from Québécois developer Frima Studio on the PlayStation Network. Labeled as a “puzzle-platforming adventure,” this PlayStation Mini (playable on both PSP and PS3) involves five robots who are tasked with saving the entire universe. Robots are pretty awesome, so it should be a piece of cake, right?

Various barriers stand in the way of universal freedom, such as puzzles, mazes, mini-games, tricky jumps and two dollars (the price of admission). We haven’t put our hands on it yet, but just seeing the words “puzzle” and “platform” squished together brings to mind fond memories of Persian princes, particle physicists and Mudokons, so hopes are running high.

If Widgets Odyssey proves to be a winner, the wait won’t be long for Widgets Odyssey 2, which is already in the works and scheduled for release later in the summer. After what seemed a slow start, the Mini market is gaining considerable momentum, and the folks at Frima Studio are determined not to fall behind, with these and the upcoming Young Thor and the prior Zombie Tycoon rounding out their known Mini offerings.
