Sega of America and Sega Europe announced today that Phantasy Star Portable 2 is coming to North American and European PSPs. This sequel is set three years after the Phantasy Star Universe saga, allowing players to not only enjoy the game offline, but online as well. Meet other players online, team up with them to form alliances and together enjoy a number of online quests.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 offers two complete RPG experiences,” said Sean Ratcliffe, Vice President of Marketing for SEGA of America, Inc. “The compelling single-player action adventure and the newly added expansive online multiplayer mode will surely satisfy RPG fans and fans of the Phantasy Star series.”

Okay, so this press release is mumbling something about the “great menace of the Seed” gone, and some people that live in a place called the “Gurhal System” not having enough resources to live a happy life. Sounds like it's time for some heroes to step in and save the universe! Yeah, I have no idea what's going on, but please enlighten me in the comments section.

Oh, and I forgot to tell you that PSP2 (oh, wow, didn't see that one coming, maybe a secret message? SEGA is making the PSP2! I should've used that as a headline...ugh...) lets players get online via Ad-Hoc and Infrastructure mode, allowing up to four players to team up from anywhere in the world. There's also a new storyline, an enhanced combat system, new weapons (duh!) and character customization options.

I can't frikkin' wait! Seriously.
