Monster Hunter Freedom Unite Unleashed on U.S.
Monster Hunters with free time, unite!
Published: June 23, 2009
Released on the Playstation 2 in 2004 to capture the generation of obsessed children who were outgrowing the belief that Charizard was their best buddy, Capcom's Monster Hunter series quickly migrated over to the PSP, where it is currently in it's third iteration. Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (known as Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G in Japan, where it sold 1.5 million copies in it's first week of release back in March of 2008) is in stores now, bringing you more of everything you love or hate about the series. With over 8.5 million units sold worldwide, the Monster Hunter games prove that people have a lot of free time on their hands on every continent.
MHFU is the biggest entry in the series yet, and might be the longest game to ever hit the PSP. With over 500 hours of gameplay, you could do nothing but play MHFU for three weeks straight, without even stopping to eat, sleep or poop, and you still wouldn't have seen all of the 2000 armor sets, 1400 weapons and 400 missions you have to choose from (unless you played Monster Hunter Freedom 2, because 95% of it was also in that game). Adventure with up to 4 friends to consume over 2 months of man-hours hunting down the new monster types, and if your friends have pesky obligations like work and family, you can still have a companion in your hunts with a new fully customizable A.I. "felyne" companion who will accompany you on quests and gather extra resources (and if you buy her some champagne, the two of you can enjoy it in the private room in the back).
MHFU includes an improved "Media Install Option" which provides the ability to copy some of the game to the memory stick, giving you faster loading times and improved battery life, which is crucial when you KNOW just 5 more hours of grinding and you'll get that rarity 10 weapon you've been lusting after. And no worries, those 300 hours you put into Monster Hunter Freedom 2 aren't totally wasted, because you can transfer your character and data over to MHFU!
