Steambot Chronicles Battle Tournament Headed Stateside

Yep, Atlus is bringing it over. All six of you who know what that means are probably doing backflips across the room right now.

Do you know what a Trotmobile is? Do you know what Bumpy Trot is? Do you even know what the hell we're talking about? No? Then you're probably not Atlus' target market with their latest announced PSP release. It's cool, though, bra, we'll help fill you in. Bumpy Trot is the Japanese title for Steambot Chronices, Irem's cute little mech-based adventure game. In it, you can custom-build worker machines-turned-combat-robots (we like to call 'em com-bots. Get it?) however you'd like, swapping out heads, torsos, legs, arms... you name it.

And now, finally, all that clunky, chunky robo-action is coming to the PSP in the form of Steambot Chronicles Battle Tournament, a mission-based version of things that still retains plenty of the detail and customization of the PS2 versions, but does it all on the go. Atlus is promising that the process of bringing the whole shebang to the States will also carry with it the stuff we already described above, plus the four-player ad hoc wireless multiplayer sessions and, in a rather awesome little plus, the ability to use the game sharing feature with up to three other PSPs.

For those keeping track, that means that with just one UMD, you can square off with up to four players. We're not sure how much of the game is shared, but we're willing to bet that if you want the hardcore customization, you'll have to shell out for the full game. Sorry, kids, but that's just the way it works. Still, it's a decent little addition for those trying to dip their toes into the Trotmobile pool. Steambot Chronicles Battle Tournament will hit his Summer, and we'll have more on it soon, but in the mean time, take a gander at some shots we managed to grab from the Japanese version of the game.
