R-Type Command Demo Drops to PlayStation Store
Same great franchise, fresh new look.

Atlus and Irem's R-Type Command for the PlayStation Portable has made it way, in demo form, to the PlayStation Store. Inside, players will find a nice collection of missions from the game, offering just a small glimpse at what's in store.
This entry into the franchise eschews the side scrolling shooter genre, opting, instead, to take R-Type into a completely different direction than the previous games in the franchise. R-Type Command is a turn-based strategy game, forcing players to use more than their itchy trigger fingers. That's right, players will need that bit of grey matter between their ears for this one, as they take the role of a military commander lost in the heart of the Bydo Empire, the aliens that humanity has been fighting against all this time. With barely any fuel resources left and equipment pushed ot its very limits, he must find a way home before all is lost.
Atlus and Irem have gone all out with this title. Players gets to control the Bydo forces, a first for the series, as well as play in head-to-head local multiplayer. They've even included some 100 forces between the two sides, via purchases and upgrades.
The game drops on May 6th, so PSP players should check out the demo. You won't be disappointed.
