Live the Life... Uh, Theirs
Because a fictional baller's off-court drama clearly surpasses your own livelihood. It's the NBA '07 way!

For as long as Sony Computer Entertainment America has been struggling to establish some reasonable first-party sports franchises, it's a bit of a relief to see they're finally making some progress. While some have phased from existence and others were never to make it to the light of retail, the NBA (or NBA ShootOut, as it once was known) series managed to hold its own through nearly two incarnations of the PlayStation, and heck if they're rolling with some momentum these days.
The latest offering comes in the form of NBA '07. Building on the key pros from last year's helping of roundball (mainly the cinematic story mode, "The Life," which now sees players as a pair of primetimers, The Kid and Big W), the game delivers a wealth of tweaked on-count mechanics, the ubiquitously smarter A.I. (because, what sports game doesn't do that?), a fancy new Open Shot Indicator and Power Boarding System, and the return of Showtime gameplay, the slap-your-smirking-mug-on-a-digital-player EyeToy functionality and a dozen plus mini-games (with an excluuuuusive PlayStation Skills Challenge).
And hey, PSP owners! No, we didn't forget you. That's what you get a health dose of on-court options, from carnival style mini-games (rhythm-based dunk contests? Yes, please), a blacktop-balling Conquest Mode, a Pick Up Mode for those quick games with a randomly generated line-up, and pimped out online play (yuh-huh, that means both kinds) sporting PvC/PvP match-ups and even full-court streetball. Because it's all about the street cred, baby.
What? A verbose quote? Yeah, we've got that!
"NBA '07 promises fans the best virtual basketball action available, from your traditional season long gameplay to quick hitting mini-games and everything in between," nodded Scott Rohde, director, sports product development, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "We're excited for players to have the opportunity to delve deeper into the game's story with 'The Life: Vol. 2' and gain even more insight into NBA life beyond the hardwood."
And that's a promise, friends. We also promise that NBA '07 will be lighting up retail by tomorrow, with Kobe Bryant rocking his new number 24 alllll over that game box.
