Peace Walker Code Hunt Offers $10,000 Prize
"Crazed Code Hunter Tears Apart Local Best Buy"
Published: May 18, 2010
We know that the wait for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is practically unbearable. After all, our preview did make the game sound pretty awesome. If you're obsessively counting down the days until June 2nd arrives, we just may have something to help – if you're willing to work that is.
Best Buy, Konami, and Sony Online Entertainment are currently hosting a code collection contest with a grand prize of $10,000. Contestants, working alone or with up to four others, are combing both the internet and the top 500 Best Buy locations in the country for obscure game codes. The team or person that registers the most codes on Konami's site will win the cash money.
Konami has provided contestants with hundreds of hints to get things started. Unfortunately, they all require some deciphering before they can be understood. Since the Konami folks aren't completely evil, they've also stated that codes can be found weekly or bi-weekly at numerous websites including the main contest site, various sponsor sites, their Facebook and Twitter pages, Sony's PlayStation blog, Konami's YouTube channel, the PlayStation Network site, and many more. Also, an official Peace Walker widget can be downloaded that provides code tips and other info regarding the upcoming game. Handy!
The contest has been running since May 5th, and its end will coincide with Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker's release on June 2nd. If you're just now catching wind of this challenge, register now and get a move on!
