Something tells us we should have become at least slightly suspicious of Electronic Arts' next-gen dabbling after Warren Jenson, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, offered this comment yesterday in conjunction with the company's fourth quarter fiscal report

"We are well into the console transition and now have more than 30 next generation games in development."

Yeah... what? Wow. Seriously? Yeah. And while only a handful of 'em will be on the floor for all the people to gawk over, the really top-secret titles are to be shown behind the closed doors of the EA Sports Lab, namely, tech demonstrations of NBA Live, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR and FIFA Soccer. But since all anyone really cares about is football, EA also plans to offer playable demos of Madden NFL 07 and NCAA Football 07 in an effort to highlight innovative development tools in action. Remember how we tend to horribly stereotype sports fans? Yeahhhh.

Now we could've sworn EA had a few more tricks up its sleeves besides pigskin and such... take it away, gang!

"EA is leading the industry with a new generation of games on a new generation of platforms," claims Paul Lee, President of EA Studios. "We're pushing the technology to provide more innovation in our EA branded games and authentic athletic performance in our EA Sports games."

"EA is demonstrating a ground-breaking level of quality and innovation at E3 this year," assures Frank Gibeau, EA Executive Vice President and General Manager of North American Publishing. "Games like Army of Two and NBA Live 07 are going to unleash the power of new consoles like PlayStation3 and Xbox 360. Madden NFL 07 makes great use of the new controller on Nintendo's Wii system."

"E3 is a showcase for EA's portfolio of globally recognized entertainment," suggests Executive Vice President and General Manager of International Publishing, Gerhard Florin. "Titles like FIFA Soccer, The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II and the Battlefield franchise are among the most popular games in the world."

Enough back-patting quotes for now? Yeah, we agree. BEHOLD THE GAMES!
