Sony Online Entertainment Digs Games Press
Chalk up another client for the good folks at Games Press.
Published: June 6, 2006
It's all but impossible to hate on Games Press for what they're doing -- and the only reason why we have any sort of jealousy for what they're doing is because we wish we'd done it first. See, the idea is that publishers and developers can upload their info to the Games Press folks, and then when print or broadcast or geeky fan site media hits the publisher up for info, they can just smile and point to their GP-fueled subsite. Not only is this the perfect way to disseminate all the info without having to run a private press FTP, but for the hyperhardcore out there looking to build a fan site, the materials are already at their fingertips.
"With the number of triple-A games that SOE has in development, we needed to find a quick and elegant solution to providing materials, assets and information to the media," gushed Chris Kramer, director of corporate communications at SOE. "Going forward, through our relationship with Games Press, we'll be able to provide information and assets on these titles with unprecedented ease."
"It's a pleasure to offer the finest in on-demand content retrieval solutions to an industry pioneer like Sony Online Entertainment," spurted back Games Press USA publisher Scott Steinberg. "Our service is the perfect vehicle for showcasing the most current, up-to-date game information and assets to SOE's large audience of journalists and trade partners."
The SOE Games Press site is already up, decked out in a graphic design that mirror's SOE's current setup rather impressively. Up for grabs is media for Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom, Field Commander (plus a handful of non-PlayStation stuff, but who cares about that? Oh, wait we do). We'd happily tell you about the site, but then that would kinda be working ourselves out of a job, wouldn't it? We can mention that SOE fans can check out the press assets at some [/i]dot com[/i], but we'd rather just point you to the game pages for the above mentioned titles where we have reviews and previews that we're sure you're just dying to check out.
Congrats to the Games Press fellas for landing yet another client. Sounds like pretty soon we'll be using them for all our asset needs -- well, when we can afford it, that is.
