2K Seeks the Siege
Dungeon Siege is coming to the PSP.

Chris Taylor has to be a pretty happy guy. After helping to create Total Annihilation and its expansion, two of the best RTS games to ever hit the PC, he decided it was time to flee the confines of Cavedog Entertainment and start his own company. So he did, founding Gas Powered Games, which quickly whipped up Dungeon Siege for Microsoft, then an expansion, then sequel, all to critical acclaim.
Apparently all those positive reviews drew the attention of 2K Games, who as of today has swooped in and plucked up the rights to the game. Given that 2K plans on expanding the series beyond the PC, it's understandable that Microsoft would pass on things, which means PC gamers will get themselves an expansion for DS2 and PSP owners will have a version to call their own by way of developer SuperVillain Studios. SVS previously worked with Activision on a number of projects, including Gun, X-Men Legends II, THAW, and THUG2: Remix.
"SuperVillain Studios is very excited to team up with Gas Powered Games and 2K Games on the development of Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony for the PSP system," squealed SVS project lead and co-founder Tim Campbell. "This title represents an important step for the Dungeon Siege franchise by extending it for the first time ever onto a new platform, merging together the incredibly rich legacy of the Dungeon Siege universe with a fresh, handheld-oriented gameplay experience."
"We're thrilled to be working with 2K Games," added Chris Taylor, Founder and Creative Director of Gas Powered Games. "We're expanding the Dungeon Siege universe on the PC with a new campaign and opening up even more new territory on the PSP system with a second, unique adventure that you can stuff in your backpack and take with you wherever you go."
"The Dungeon Siege series has always been known for its beautiful graphics and great single and multiplayer gameplay," beamed Christoph Hartmann, Managing Director of 2K Games. "2K Games is fully committed to expanding the franchise on PC and the PSP system."
Cheery name, that Throne of Agony. The PSP port will be a completely new game, with new characters and storyline, with both single-player and Ad Hoc (sorry, kids, no online here) multiplayer co-op and battles. We expect to learn a little more come E3 time, but should we stumble across new information before then, we'll make sure you know about it.
