NIS America Rallies Disgaea PSP Troops

Want a Stateside release of the game? Time to prove it.

One of the worst-kept secrets in the industry is finally getting an official word. Though Nippon Ichi Software isn't making a formal announcement until tomorrow, we've just gotten word that Disgaea PORTABLE (their emphasis, not ours) -- better known as Makai Senski Disgaea PORTABLE in Japan -- will indeed be headed to the PSP this November.

And, joy of joys, it's not just a straight port of the original Disgaea, but a sort of suped-up conversion that adds a handful of new dungeons (Prinny Land, the Cave of Ordeals, an Alternate Netherworld, the Human World, Beauty Castle, and Baal Castle have been shown so far). NIS managed to reunite the original Japanese voice cast for Flonne, Etna and Laharl to record new lines for the storyline bits that have been added.

And apparently, it's just the tip of the iceberg.

For the US release, NIS America is planning on releasing exclusive content for the US release of the game (as per Sony Computer Entertainment America's insistence that PS2-to-PSP ports get something new in the process for Stateside releases). Given that Disgaea is at best a cult hit, it's going to be a hard sell -- not as hard as if the game was, say, all 2D or something, but it'll still be difficult. Which is why NIS America needs your help.

Either by hitting up the official NISA forums and pledging your support, jumping into [forums]our forums[/forums], or, best yet, hitting SCEA's official forums to start spreading the word that you do indeed want a US release of Disgaea on the PSP. It won't happen without your support, so get on out there and show 'em some luv!
