Mmmm... Chili Con Carnage
Eidos takes yet another trip south of the border -- this time on PSP.

If we didn't know any better, we'd say Eidos had something of a thing for games based on adventures taking placed decidedly closer to the equator than not. Just Cause and Total Overdose prided themselves on featuring protagonists and locales that were decidedly south of the Rio Grande.
It's the latter of those two titles that Chili Con Carnage seems to pay homage too. Though Eidos isn't really linking the two games, the same developer, Deadline Games, is behind both projects, and they seem to share the same basic interface and mechanics. Not that we mind that, of course -- one can never get too many tales of revenge in Mexico after a one Ramiro Cruz's father is assassinated -- but it is a little odd that the game doesn't try to link the two worlds.
"Eidos gave us the challenge to create the fastest and most gun crazy action game to be released on a handheld machine. And we have delivered Chili Con Carnage - a burning hot Mexican shooter with the biggest explosion frequency and the highest takedown rate you will ever experience on the PSP," proudly proclaimed Chris Mottes, Deadline's CEO.
"The blend of exaggerated over-the-top action, diverse environments and comedy make Chili Con Carnage the best choice for a PSP action game," claimed Mike Schmitt, Associate Marketing Manager at Eidos. "The variety of game modes allows the game to be accessible to a wide variety of gamers, allowing them to enjoy both a single player and multiplayer portable experience."
Three difficulty levels, slick action movie moves, Wi-Fi multiplayer, seven different environments that range from a drug city to the jungle and, uh, exploding chickens all certainly have the makings of something we want to play (hell, we loved Infected when everyone else poo-pooed it). For now, though, we'll have to peek at these three screenshots we've managed to snag, and hope for a closer look soon. When we get it, we'll let you know.
