Virtua Tennis Is Go
Who? Wha? There’s a Virtua Tennis game?
Published: October 6, 2005
You’d think a game with the kind of history of awesomeness that Virtua Tennis carries would keep us lazy bastards interested, but to be honest, this release snuck up on us. Still, there’s no denying the appeal of a handheld with the approximate horsepower of the home console that first birthed the stunningly good tennis series finally getting a version of its own.
Virtua Tennis has indeed arrived, and should be in stores as you read this. 14 players, including Venus Williams, Top Spin cover boy and girl Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova, Lindsay Davenport, Andy Roddick, Lleyton Hewitt and eight more players are available. Create-a-player, wireless multiplayer and exclusive min-games an unlockables are also bonuses for PSP owners.
"Virtua Tennis: World Tour tightens up the franchise's already superb gameplay and treats fans to a new set of innovative mini-games, customization and multiplayer modes," gushed SEGA of America’s VP of Entertainment of Marketing, Scott A. Steinberg. "SEGA delivers an even more authentic tennis experience with Virtua Tennis: World Tour, which features a robust roster of internationally-renowned pro-tennis stars that gamers can challenge or play as."
Again, we’re surprised, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t itching to play through the game and bring back first word of how it is. Check back soon for the official verdict, or just head out now and pick it up, we won’t mind.
