Red Hot and Ready to Rumble

Viewtiful Joe, meet the PSP.

Many a "guh?" was likely uttered after Capcom gave word at E3 2005 that its latest cel-shaded superhero offering, Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble, would be heating up the Gamecube and... er, PlayStation Portable. Luckily, the worldwide publisher/developer has been kind enough to clarify exactly what kind of action Joe will be brining to Sony's handheld, with today's official announcement of his PSP debut.

The heat of competition rises when Captain Blue gives word that he's in search of a lead character for his latest big-screen flick. Players will take the role of several new and familiar characters from the VJ world (some courtesy of the Kids' WB! animated series), including Silvia, Alastor, Sprocket, an ice princess with one heck of a cold stare, and Captain Blue Junior, all auditioning for the part the only way they know how: head-to-head brawling!

Duke it out solo against AI competitors in the Story Mode, or link up with three pals ad-hoc style and let the fighting commence in Multiplayer Battle Mode. Exclusive for the PSP, players can unlock the demon-slayer himself, Dante, or truly test their skills in an added single-player Trial Mode. Heck, even play selective stages and characters on a single disk. Ah, the wonders of game sharing!

You ready to rumble? Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble will start casting in March 2005, but only for you teen ("T") audiences and up. We've got smokin' new screens just waiting to be browsed over, so a go-go to our media section pronto!
