Portable Anti-Terrorism is Coming

Rainbow Six style, baby. First details right here.

Now here's something we didn't see coming: Rainbow Six: Vegas is headed to the PSP. And it'll hit right around the same time as the PS3 version when it hits near launch. Based on (but not completely mirroring) the next-gen version of the game, the pint-sized duplicate seems to pattern itself nicely after the core concepts introduced in Vegas on the PS3; no more run-and-gun shite, an adaptive camera system that's first-person most of the time but switches to third-person when taking cover, and of course the familiar setting.

Rather than the three-man system that the console version employes, the PSP version plays a bit like a side story. You'll likely hear about the progress of Keller, Park and Walter, but you'll be playing as Brian Armstrong, spec-ops and wetwork man, and Shawn Rivers, world-class sniper extraordinaire. Aside from having two of the most generic names known to gaming, the pair work in a sort of tag-team fashion, switching off to help each other out in environments that we're hoping piggyback off things seen in the big-screen version.

With the same cover/camera system, the same Observe/Plan/Assault system for strategically finding targets before breaching a room, and the familiar locales, one might take this to be a pared-down version of the PS3 game, but the inclusion of a different control scheme (for obvious reasons), and Terrorist Hunt, a more pure action mode that gets you unlockable player rewards and upgrades, means the PSP version isn't afraid to embrace burst gameplay. Oh, and the kicker? It will be playable in both Ad Hoc and Infrastructure mode with up to five other players.

You may begin your happy dance.........nnnnow. We'll keep a close eye on things and update you as soon as we get more info.
