Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max has rushed to retail faster than you can pull off a hadoken.

Capcom has got quite the ace up its sleeve this year in hitting the PSP will an onslaught of five titles from its many hallmark franchises. And as Mega Man-iacs (we’ll take credit for that phrase, thank you) got their fix just over a week ago, fighting fans get theirs today, with the release of Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max.

Sure, the name is a mouthful, but the game itself is an honest to goodness conversion (an enhanced one, at that) of the arcade hit Street Fighter Alpha 3. A cast over 30 strong, joined by the likes of Yun, Maki, Eagle (all three Capcom vs. SNK 2 regulars) and Ingrid, come ready to throw down in 2D glory. Single player is maxed out with an array of gameplay modes, including Arcade, Survival, Dramatic Battle, Final Battle, Versus, Team Battle, Versus Dramatic Battle, Versus Variable Battle and, uh, we think that about covers it. Unless you’ve got a group of PSP-ready pals, of course, as making for some truly intense eight-player round-robin mini tournaments in the Wi-Fi League Battle Mode. We suggest you start making friends quick.

Battle awaits, as Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max rocks retail with a $39.95 price point and “Teen” rating. After all, we wouldn’t want the youngins catching sight of all the nasty digitized damage you’ll soon be dealing.
