Giving Capcom classics the portable treatment seems to be all the rage these days, and it’s not about to cease. The company has announced Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max to be in currently development for the PlayStation Portable, marking the renowned fighting series’ debut on Sony’s sexy black brick (err, the smaller one… and no, not the slim PS2). As a direct port of the arcade-worthy Street Fighter Alpha 3, the handheld Max offers a host of enhanced content and extras worthy of a PSP treatment.
What’s in store, you ask? On top of the 30 some characters from the original reclaiming their roles, another four are joining the fight: Yun, Maki and Eagle of Capcom vs. SNK 2 fame and Capcom Fighting Evolution’s Ingrid. Also along for the ride and intact are SFA3’s numerous modes of play: Arcade, Survival, Dramatic Battle, Final Battle, as well as the network-compatible Versus, Battle, and Versus Dramatic Battle Modes. The list doesn’t come without the addition of the new Variable BattleMode (and Versus Variable BattleMode), with “real-time” tag team fights that allow for the ever-so-handy maneuver of tagging out so your partner and come storming in with a jump attack. Call us cheap, will you?!
You’ll be able to get those frosty mitts on some sweet, sweet portable Street Fighter action come February 2006. May we suggest practicing you Hadokens now?
