The Strategic Side of Tony Montana
What, you think Miami was won with just guns and balls?

We've got to hand it to Vivendi Games, they're really milking this whole Scarface license for all its worth. In addition to having Scarface: The World is Yours hit on PS2, PC and Xbox, they've finally pulled the wraps off Scarface: Money. Power. Respect, which is, expectedly, not a direct port of the free-roaming GTA-style console version but instead moves to a more portable-friendly turn-based strategy game.
Developed by FarSight Studios, makers of the console versions of the surprisingly decent Pinball Hall of Fame, MPR is, at its heart, a turf war, and taking the reins of Tony Montana's empire, the game will allow you to systematically take over Miami bit by bit, pulling off missions inspired by the original movie. Should you need to get your hands dirty, you can drop into street-level battles and engage in a little real-time combat.
“Scarface: Money. Power. Respect. will challenge players to strategically direct Tony Montana’s legendary and meteoric ascent to the biggest drug kingpin in Miami,” outlines Cindy Cook, Vivendi Games' Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer. “Using the PSP platform’s advanced functionality and multiplayer capabilities, Scarface: Money. Power. Respect. will deliver a unique and challenging strategy experience combined with real-time combat that is fully immersed in the authentic world of the film.”
Though there have been multiple mentions of multiplayer, we still don't know if it's Infrastructure or just Ad Hoc, but this seems like the perfect kind of game for online play. The multiplayer mode is more drug-focused "Land Grab," allowing characters to pick their bits of Miami and then attempt to gain as much turf as possible while controlling the all important nose candy outlets to ensure maximum profit.
We've got a whopping two screens of the game, but by all means, check them out. As soon as we know more about the game, we'll be sure to pass it along.
