The State of War Looms
And PSP owners with a taste for tactical action couldn’t be happier.

For a portable system that is pushing specs as it is, we imagine Omega Force had quite a task a hand in cramming obscene amounts of enemies onto the PSP’s luminous screen at once, all while sustaining a decent enough frame rate to keep the action consistent. Apparently they’ve done it, though, and Koei’s announcement today of Samurai Warriors: State of War going gold is proof.
The tactical action is set, surprisingly enough, in war-ridden Japan, with players taking the role of an illustrious samurai and legendary ninja as the conflict unfolds. Weaponry comes in the form of swords, longbows and sickles, and should come in handy when tearing through those vast battlefields or trap-tacular castles. Bout it out as 19 playable characters in all, with spanking new stories and even multiplayer challenges rounding out a robust list of features.
To build the ol’ anticipation meter, Koei has also launched a minisite for the game, which can be viewed from both a PC and PSP. And why, just look whose preview they’ve linked!
War commences in retail on March 8, though Samurai Warriors: State of War will be shipping a day earlier. Let us do the favor of linking you directly to that preview o’ awesomeness Koei has grown so fond of.
