Just When You Thought You'd Seen Enough Poker Games...
Namco and Bits beg to differ, there, buddy.

The only think hotter than poker games these days is... well, crap, there isn't anything hotter. The all too tempting combination of relatively short development time, cheap licensing, low budgets and the fact that seemingly everyone is into playing some form of card game for cold, hard cash these days means it's a fad easily cashed in on by publishers.
Enter Namco, latest purveyor of digital card games with their upcoming Bits Studios-developed offering, Payout Poker and Casino. Sure, the title more or less says it all (yes, it's poker and casinos), but we'll try to sweeten the pot a bit (awww, almost two paragraphs without a crappy gambling reference) with a few company lines.
"Payout Poker and Casino expands upon the traditional concept of a gambling title with customizable characters and fully 3D Casinos for players to roam," detailed Jeff Lujan, Business Director at Namco Hometek. "Online play and 12 fully realized casino favorites further enhance the game, giving players a total gambling package they can feel confident about going ‘all in’ with."
"We are very excited about bringing this game to the public," gushed an ever so slightly richer Foo Katan, Bits Gaming's Chief Executive. "We wanted to create a new experience for the gambling genre and with features we have included in the game, we think we’ll do just that."
Those features Katan hinted at consist of the aforementioned casinos, but it's what's at the table that'll probably keep you entertained most of the time. 12 games in all from Texas and Omaha versions of Hold’em to Red Dog, Blackjack, Baccarat, Roulette, Craps, Slots, Wheel of Fortune and a few more will all be scattered around those fancy-pants casinos you'll be able to explore.
We were skeptical that any gambling games needed to be made in the first place, but the screens and movie we got of Payout certainly make things seem interesting. Take a look for yourself and we'll let you know as soon as we've spent some time with the game if it's worth all the fuss.
