Namco Preps Museum Battle Collection

More than double the games of the Japanese version? Who says getting sloppy seconds doesn't pay?

Most U.S. gamers are used to seeing Japanese releases a couple months later than their Nipponese brothers and sisters (and hey, it's not like we have to wait as long as the poor folks in PAL territories). Usually it's a translation thing (especially for role-playing games), and often there are a few goodies added in to make the wait worth bearing, but Namco's U.S. best-of collection for the PSP, Namco Museum, is getting an impressive injection of exclusive games.

"Millions of people around the world have played Namco's arcade classics, and now we're able to offer new versions of these timeless games to a whole new generation of gamers with Namco Museum Battle Collection,'" gushed Yoshi Niki, Business Unit Director at Namco Hometek, a nostalgic tear rolling down his cheek. "Namco Museum Battle Collection is a must-have title for anyone that enjoys classic gameplay on an innovative new platform."

That classic gameplay includes 80's mainstays like Dig Dug, Pac-Man, Galaga and plenty of other games dorks like us get all giddy about when we happen to catch a view of a sit-down arcade cabinet in random bars. It's enough to make some of us forget about our beers and stop leering at women for a couple seconds. Some of us.

The U.S. release adds 10 new games, including King & Balloon, Mappy, Xevious, Tower of Druaga, Dig Dug 2, Bosconian, Dragon Buster and Grobda, just name a few. Available in classic and "Arrangement" versions (read: remade with fancy-pants graphics and in a few cases brought into 2.5D), the collection will be Wi-Fi enabled, allowing up to four players to get their game on wirelessly for maximum geekfests, even those without a copy of the game through the PSP's Game Sharing Mode (hopefully it's the first of many games that support it).

A final release date hasn't been nailed down yet, but we'll give you the poop as soon as we find out.
