Live Goes Live Tomorrow
EA's basketball sim is ready for showtime.

You know what the best part about being a seasoned sportscaster is? You can totally bite a girl like fifteen times and still get a gig like doing the commentary for one of EA Sports' biggest franchises. Now granted, Marv Albert may not have the golden pipes of Seattle Supersonics commentator Kevin Calabro (who did have a gig with the ill-fated NBA Inside Drive on the original Xbox), but nobody -- and we do mean nobody can belt out a "YESH" like Marv Albert.
Which is probably why EA is so psyched to have the veteran lending his comments to the game. One can only imagine NBA Live 07 will try to hold a candle to the NBA Jam comments Albert offered in years past, but we're guessing there'll certainly be more of 'em. Joining Albert will be former Chicago Bull Steve Kerr, and in addition to the pair, an overhauled engine with the usual new animations and tweaks to Dynasty Mode and the All-Star Weekend, plus on-the-fly tweaking of Freestyle moves have been added.
Of course, that's all small potatoes compared to what EA is doing with the always-on internet connections of next gen consoles. The PS3 version offers an absolutely insane amount of additional content straight from ESPN; podcasts from Dan Patrick, Steven Smith, Mike & Mike and more, live ESPN Radio SportsCenter updates in 20 minute intervals, ESPN news, the ESPN ticker, SportsCenter interviews and highlights, actual NBA game clips, chunks of Pardon the Interruption and Around the Horn... and apparently there's even more they aren't telling us about.
To help push the game, the Rockets' Tracy McGrady and the Spurs' Tony Parker will be in New York City to hand out the first copies of the game at the NBA store on 5th Ave. If you're around, hit it up at 1:00PM local time and grab a copy and some signatures. We should have our review of things shortly.
