An entire Metal Slug collection that’s playable on the go? Well we’re certainly not complaining…

So this was a long time coming. Fans of the 2D coin munchers have been waiting some time to get their hands on Metal Slug in handheld form ever since the all-in-one collection, Metal Slug Anthology, was announced way back in March. It also doesn’t help that the initial release date of November came and went without a sign of the portable pack o’ fun (and we can only imagine the simultaneous groans that accompanied it).
Ok, so we’re a little late on it, but that’s no excuse not to ring in the 10th anniversary of the beloved arcade franchise with bells and whistles, with the Metal Slug Anthology today touching down in North American retail. Yes, it’s the complete arcade collection in your hands: Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug 4, Metal Slug 5 annnd the newly-added Metal Slug 6. Seven games, Jack!
We can only imagine the kind words an SNK higher-up will have to say about just such an accomplishment. Oh wai--
“Metal Slug Anthology fans’ dreams are realized with this complete collection,” said Ben Herman, president of SNK Playmore USA Corporation. “With the PSP system version now available and the PlayStation 2 system version coming soon, gamers will have two more ways to enjoy all the non-stop action they’ve come to expect from the Metal Slug series.”
Did he say PlayStation 2 version? He… he did? And it’s out in Apirl? Well hey, one more thing to look forward to! Not to mention that shiny new PSP version that’s currently awaiting your purchase at local retail. Get to it!
