MediEvil's Orchestral Resurrection
Just because it's a handheld game doesn't mean you can't record a film-quality score.

We've been big Bob & Barn fans since we first got tipped off to their work while playing through Primal and have been hoping that we'd hear from them again soon. "Soon" ended up being about two and a half years later but it's evident that the time in between was filled with quite a bit of work; the pair added aural backdrops to Broken Sword 3, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., LEGO Bionicle, Juiced and an as-yet-unnamed Nokia project before hooking back up with Sony.
Sure, the guys handled plenty of stuff outside games too, but we're nerds and we like our fancy-pants interactive entertainment more than stuff like sunshine or culture or social interaction, so we secretly hoped there'd be something coming from the duo that meant we could keep being lazy and still get a few more thick, lush orchestrations while doing it.
While at a meeting with some of the folks working on the PSP update to the classic PlayStation MediEvil franchise at this year's E3, we discovered much to our delight that the partnership between the boys and Sony's Cambridge development house would once again be reformed. There was an audible yelp of glee in the normally silent meeting room, and more than a few rolled eyes.
The team once again got access to the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus (this time with a massive 86-part and 46-piece accompaniment, respectively), hooked up with producer and fixer James Fitzpatrick, orchestrator and conductor Nic Raine, engineer Jan Holzner and Gareth Williams tackling editor and mastering engineer duities. The team reworked some of the classic synthesized tracks and wrote a slew of new pieces to fit in.
The best news of all was that the game would probably end up getting its very own soundtrack release similar to what Primal had, but some complications late in the process meant almost nobody even knew there was a Primal soundtrack. This was hopefully going to be rectified with MediEvil: Resurrection and all would be good. Children would giggle as it rained gumdrops, cats and dogs would hug and the world would finally be well.
Then it happened again. Instead of getting a fancy flyer inserted into all the PSP cases, something got screwed up and B&B would again have to sell the soundtrack on word of mouth alone. Well, we're here to help out with that, and we're asking you, the PSX2.com faithful (yeah, both of you) to spread the word. The guys have graciously dumped a ton of info on us, and we aim to make sure it gets out, so dig on the track listing here (complete with a couple of samples):
