BVG Trips the Q
And it means not one but two delicious new Lumines games.
Published: April 26, 2006
Ohhhhh man, there are some days when you're just glad to be doing news. This is one of those days. In addition to learning that there is not only a new Lumines in the works for the PSP but the PlayStation 2 as well, plus another PSP game from Q Entertainment all hitting this year is just getting all giddy.
And it's all thanks to Buena Vista Games. Mickey's video game publishing arm has been doing a bang-up job of not only publishing honest-to-goodness great Disney-related games, but rocking the original content as well. Their latest deal with Tetsuya Mizuguchi's Q Entertainment is quite possibly the most geek-out worthy of them all, though. And yes, that means we have a Lumines problem, and we're willing to admit that. It's the first step to recovery.
The second is closing the office and boarding ourselves up in our rooms at home with copies of Lumines II (which we have the first shots of), emerging only to relieve ourselves and forage for food. It's like hibernation but with blocks and dynamic music that haunts you in your sleep.
Ah, but there's more. In addition to a Disney-themed version of Meteos for the Nintendo DS, Q is also working on Lumines Plus for the PS2 and a "puzzle action shooter" called Every Extend Extra for the PSP (check the game page for the first shots of that too).
“We are looking forward to enhancing our relationship with the talented team at Q Entertainment to bring gamers unique and innovative gaming experiences,” gushed Graham Hopper, senior vice president and general manager for Buena Vista Games. “With BVG’s expertise in publishing a broad portfolio of video games for the entire family, these new titles are a perfect fit because they appeal to a wide variety of gamers.”
“Q Entertainment established itself last year as the premier creator of action puzzle games with the best-selling and highly addictive Lumines for the PSP system and Meteos for the Nintendo DS," boasted Q Entertainment CEO Shuji Utsumi. "This year, our goal is to build upon that success and reach new heights around the world with our new publishing agreement with BVG. We are also very excited to introduce another music-based game, Every Extend Extra.”
Check out the PSP game pages for the first images, and we'll be sure to drop any news or info on you for all three games as soon as we learn more.
