PSP Price Drops in Europe
UK gamers will soon be shelling out £20 less for the system, while the rest of Europe can enjoy a pretty new price point of €169.99.

Good things should be shared amongst all. Many an oversea gamer was likely making a very similar plea when, following SCEA’s decision to shed $30 off the price of the PSP Core Pack ($200 smackers down to $169.99) in early April, its cohorts at SCEE were quick to point out that PAL territories ought not count on seeing a similar cut anytime soon.
Three weeks later, the decision must have grown exponentially beneficial, as the Euro division of SCE has announced its territories would too be soon basking in the glory of money saved, with a territory-wide price reduction on the PSP. In the UK, the system drops from £149.99 to £129.99 while remaining Europe sees a cut similar to that in the U.S.: from €200.00 to €169.99. According to SCEE, the new price is “effective from the end of April 2007 and rolling out to all territories by the end of May 2007.”
But hey, what’s a bargain if you can’t snag one or two budget-priced titles with your saved dough? The launch of five new Platinum titles (like our own Greatest Hits program) allows for just that, which has Ridge Racer 2, Tekken, Killzone, Loco Roco, and Moto GP now hitting the €19.99/£14.99 price point.
“The combined effect of the two price reductions will unleash PSP, making it a ‘must have’ portable system for all entertainment enthusiasts, and allowing them to enjoy the breadth and depth of entertainment opportunities available from PSP,” exhales Stephane Hareau, PSP Marketing Manager SCEE. “PSP is unique and is constantly evolving. It offers the widest palette of mobile entertainment, from gaming to video, music, photos and internet – and now the unique possibility to connect to PlayStation 3 remotely. With this new price point, and the launch of five new Platinum titles, PSP is more than ever, the handheld entertainment system of choice for the discerning gamer.”
Ah, just couldn’t elude the all-in-one capability plug, could they? Well no matter: European gamers may indeed be getting their PSP buy on now with all the money-saving fun to be had. Plus, they’ve got Ridge Racer 2. We’re slightly envious.
