Golden Goblet
Why hello there, finished Harry Potter game.
Published: October 31, 2005
This is certainly expected news. We were creeping up on the fourth movie adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s series, The Goblet of Fire and it makes sense to be in lock-step with the release of said film if you’re in the licensed game biz, but hey, don’t say we didn’t toss you the good news.
Scheduled for release on just about every freakin’ system come November 8th (the PSP version’s a few weeks behind), the fourth game moves more towards mirroring the look and feel of the actual films, including sporting characters that actually look like their big-screen counterparts, a series first according to EA.
In following with the book and the film (even if you do know the outcome already), the game focuses on Harry’s surprise recruitment as the fourth teammate in the Triwizard Tournament, and his subsequent hero-type acts like rescuing friends from Black Lake and going toe-to-toe with a dragon.
Overgrown fire-breathing lizards notwithstanding, the climax of the game (and film) will likely come down to a wand wicking contest between the titular hero and Lord Voldemort, which should be, in a word, iiiiiinteresting. The game sports almost a dozen of the actual set pieces from the movie, and allows for some co-op spell casting between Harry, Hermione and Ron, all of which are individually playable too.
See, we made it all the way through a HP story without a single retarded “Muggle” reference. Oh crap.
