Co-publishing deals are always interesting, and not just because we only have the ability to list one of them on our super-awesome game pages. Seeing two publishers, as in the case of GripShift, means at least two parties were down with handling the duties, though it’s never really clear from the outset whether one half of the partnership is handing the bulk of the duties.
Given that we’ve never heard of Red Mile Entertainment (and that’s not a slight against RME, mind), we’re guessing that Sony Online Entertainment was tapped to provide a little much-needed PR muscle. This is fine, of course, since the joint relase of GripShift is one that should make both parties a fair bit o’ cash, seeing as the game certainly seems awesome.
Not surprisingly, both publishers are happy to chime in with a few kind words about the game:
“GripShift is one of the most innovative videogames for the PSP system available this holiday season,” gushed SOE senior brand manager Chris Sturr. “Combining various elements of platform, puzzle, and driving action in a unique gaming experience, GripShift offers gamers pedal-to-the-metal driving action, unique puzzle-solving challenges, wireless multiplayer features, and off-the-wall bonus games geared for hours of fun.”
“Red Mile Entertainment is thrilled to release its first PSP system title with Sony Online Entertainment,” added Chester Aldridge, CEO at Red Mile. “GripShift is a unique combination of game genres that creates a one-of-a-kind handheld experience. It's a terrific title that will appeal to a wide range of gamers.”
The combination of genres, in case you haven’t yet heard, is racing and stunts, and from what we played a few months back at E3, it’s an addictive one at that. We’ll have a full review of the game shortly, but dig on our game page for some screens and info until then.
