So you think you’re “The Great One” or something? Shut up. You’re not… no, no, come on now, stop crying, we didn’t mean it because… well, you can be! The nice folks over at Sony Computer Entertainment America have sent Gretzky NHL ’06 off to retail for the PSP, which means at home or on the go, you can take to the ice as “The Great One” any time you please! Honestly, though, the idolization thing is unhealthy.
"Gretzky NHL '06 the PSP system provides hockey fans a chance to play their sport anywhere, anytime," summates Sharon Shapiro, senior director, promotions and sports product marketing, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "By combining unique opportunities to get in and skate with greatest player to ever take to the ice, along with multiple gameplay options, Gretzky NHL '06 for the PSP system is the perfect blend of professional hockey and arcade-style gameplay for gamers on the go."
The big attractions this year are the Wayne vs. Wayne Mode and the “99 Time,” which will temporarily throw Gretzky on the ice as a teammate, or if you’re good enough, earn you an entire team of Waynes! Mode-wise, the list goes on and on: Three-on-Three Countdown and Showdown modes for you arcadey types, with the Quick Game, Exhibition and Season Modes there for some authentic hockey action. Speaking of authenticity, Mike Emrick and Darren Pang grace the game with their commentary. Brilliant!
Ok, Wayne-iac, get to your local game store; you know what’s waiting there for you.
