[Shipping Out] March 4, 2008
War, baseball, and horror... what more does a growing boy need?
Published: March 3, 2008
Welcome to Shipping Out, our weekly notice of all them thar games that ship from publishers to retailers in preparation for their street date a day later. In many cases, these games won't be on store shelves until tomorrow, but in the interest of getting the word out, letting the PR departments have their fancy quotes and saving us sanity as the weekly releases pile up, we're going to be consolidating everything down into one handy little news story at the end of the day, along with this description. Neat, eh? And lazy!

[Silent Hill Origins]
PlayStation 2 owners who were jealous of PlayStation Portable owners can now rest easy: Konami's Silent Hill Origins has shipped to retail stores for the PS2.
Sporting enhanced visuals for the PS2 game, Silent Hill Origins follows Travis Grady, a lone truck driver who made an unfortunate detour to the mysterious town of Silent Hill. Fans of the series know what happens next: Travis must escape from the city's inhabitants and unravel the mystery behind the strange hallucinations he's experienced since he was a child.
Over the course of the game, an array of weapons are at Travis's disposal, including his fists, meat cleavers, pool cues, and a sledgehammer, as he fights his way through the horrific world of Silent Hill to one of the game's many possible endings.
Anyone worried about the game's quality can rest easy. The PSP game was one of the highest reviewed titles for the system and the PS2 game follows in its footsteps.
Silent Hill Origins is rated “M” for Mature with a MSRP of $29.99.
[PlayStation Portable]
[God of War: Chains of Olympus]
If you've put your PSP up in the closest because there weren't enough hardcore games to sink your teeth into, it's time to dust it off and glue it to your hand. God of War: Chains of Olympus, developed by Ready at Dawn Studios and published by Sony Computer Entertainment World Wide Studios, is in a store near you.
Available only for the PSP, Chains of Olympus is the third installment of the God of War franchise. Incredible, face paced action graces the screen as players take control of Kratos, the infamous Spartan Warrior and protagonist of the series, and his legendary Blades of Chaos in this prequel to the original God of War. The game oozes Greek Mythology, like the rest of the series, as players do battle with demonic hordes, using all-new combat moves that mix both the first and second games' move sets with plenty of new treats to make even the most jaded God of War fan squeal with delight.
Easily the most visually stunning game on PSP, God of War: Chains of Olympus waits for no man. Why are you still sitting here reading this? Go buy it!
[Puzzle Guzzle]
From the think-tank of Agetec, Inc., Puzzle Guzzle is another take on the puzzle genre that hopes to tie players' brains into complete knots. The premise is simple: attempt to create various shapes. The catch, however, is that this can only be done at 90 degree angles. As the shapes appear faster and faster, the opponents grow more devious.
It might sound like another run-of-the-mill puzzle game, but there are some new concepts thrown into the mix to liven things up. As players defeat their opponents, they'll be able to steal their character's appearance, features, and special abilities, which changes the game the more they play. It also features more than 50 downloadable puzzles to keep things fresh.
Puzzle Guzzle is rated E for Everyone and is available for only $19.99. Why not check it out?
[Blokus Portable: Steambot Championship]
Developed by IREM and published by Majesco Entertainment, Blokus Portable: Steambot Championship brings the successful board game to the PSP. It includes the original four-player Blokus, the two-player Blokus Travel/Duo, and the characters of the Steambot Chronicles. That's almost like three games in one!
"The PSP® system version of Blokus captures the same exciting strategic play that has helped its board game counterparts build a worldwide fan base of three million players," said Gui Karyo, Executive Vice President of Operations, Majesco. "We think the consumer-friendly price point coupled with the award-winning board game content is a perfect mix of value and addictive gameplay."
Blokus is a simple concept: each player places pieces on the board in turns, ensuring that the pieces of the same color touch one more corners but never the sides. The object is to place as many colored pieces as possible before your opponent does. Blokus Portable allows up to 16 people the chance to duke it out in Ad Hoc wireless mode, or for three friends to play simultaneously using one UMD in the Ad Hoc game sharing mode. Players can also customize their characters and unlock 18 additional characters from the Steambot Chronicles series.
Blokus Portable: Steambot Championship is rated E for everyone with the MSRP of $19.99.
