Majesco Drops Two

Financial troubles have forced the company to sell its rights of The Darkness and Ghost Rider to an unnamed publisher.

Kudos to Majesco for looking to give deserving comic book franchises, namely The Darkness and Ghost Rider, rightful video game renditions. Unfortunately, even with its endeavors to give movie-based and next-generation development a go, financial rockiness have given the company little choice but to sell its rights and obligations of both game titles, in turn earning the company $8 million in proceeds.

For Majesco, the sale "reduces its financial obligations and improves its capital structure" and allows the company "flexibility" to "pursue additional opportunities," according to a press release.

The recipient of the game rights is a yet-to-be-named publisher, but Majesco promises to shed more light on the deal in its January 2006 conference call. We'll be sure to report back with the deets.
