Oscar De La Hoya has got a lot to his name. Olympic gold medalist, former WBC & WBA super welterweight champion, WBC welterweight and super lightweight champion and we hear he still dishes out fierce jabs to shmucks just for looking at him the wrong way. It looks like golden boy's got another thing going for him, as Electronic Arts has named De La Hoya as spokesman and cover athlete of Fight Night Round 3, to be featured on the next-generation versions of the game (for now, that'd be PSP and Xbox 360). PlayStation 2 (and Xbox, while we're at it) owners, on the other hand, will be treated to the mugs of Arturo Gatti and Mickey Ward on their game covers.

“It’s exciting to be contributing to a project that pushes the popularity of boxing to a new level and to a new audience,” admits De La Hoya. “EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 3 is so realistic anyone can pick up the game and learn about the actual sport while having a fun time doing it. The visuals in the game are so amazing. You can actually see the emotions on my face change throughout the round.”

Soon after, De La Hoya went on zealous spree, screaming about how incredible the visuals looked, but his quote was cut short once it turned into incessant mumbling. Fight Night Round 3, and we're talking all versions, is due out in February 2006. We'll deliver a 1-2 punch of updates once they head our way.
