We know you usually read the site standing up all the time, but you really should make sure you’re sitting here. Why? Because (and don’t go telling everyone now) EA is hard at work on a FIFA Street sequel. Wanna know what it’s called? FIFA Street 2. We know, right? But that’s totally the name.

FIFA Street is a game franchise with its own unique flair that celebrates soccer culture and styles from around the globe,” informs executive producer Wil Mozell. “We’re very excited to be developing FIFA Street 2, a sequel with more depth, more killer moves from the street, and more than 300 top players and 20 national teams, which is going to deliver a truly immersive street soccer experience.”

More of everything is almost never a bad thing when the first game is criticized for being a bit on the shallow side. Fun, sure, but even we couldn’t help but notice the game was a bit stunted for something that contained so many, uh, stunts. Still, we’re excited about the prospects of what the sequel might bring, given the strides that were made to make NFL Street 2 to the point where the original should have been.

FIFA Street 2 promises a bigger globe-trotting approach to things, with stops in the beaches of Brazil (though we doubt the bikini-optional scenery will be completely faithful) and the Westway Leisure Centre in London, among others. The four-on-four gameplay should be bolstered by more gamebreakers, an expanded trick stick system for moves, passes and juggles, and hopefully, better AI and more variety. But hey, the BT remixes can absolutely stay, we loved that.

In case you aren’t reading this in the PSP section – surprise – there is indeed a PSP version in the works. And if you are reading this in the PSP section, well, you already knew that. Laugh and point at the other guys!
