Exit Enters Stores

It always brings a little tear to our eye and a swelling of pride to... other parts when we hear about obscure Japanese games getting picked up for release here in the US. If it weren't for Katamari Damacy taking off like some kind of digital bird flu -- a rolling digital bird flu, American publishers probably wouldn't have grown a pair and kept giving imports a chance, leaving smaller-time publishers like Atlas and Nippon Ichi to pick up the slack. And there's a lot of slack.

But no, it was a hit, and because of it, we're seeing stuff like Exit finally shipping to stores as of today. Yes, finally we'll get a chance to guide Mr. ESC through burning, flooding or earthquake-addled buildings, subways and hospitals in an effort to rescue trapped denizens, all while looking famously stylish.

Exit has never made a burning building seem like so much fun before,” opined Ubisoft's Tony Kee, VP of Marketing. “With its timed missions and obstacles like total blackouts, we’re proud to bring yet another truly cutting-edge and exciting puzzle game to gamers.”

And the PSP can use some really good games these days. The idea of rescuing someone and having them help us push some big blocks around sounds like way more fun than it probably should, but then we're nerds, and all of us here PSP game-starved nerds at that, so something this cool is naturally reason to get excited.

As always (or, um, most of the time), we should have a review shortly. Check back in a few days for the full poo, and peep the first round of screens we managed to get in the game's media section. Enjoy!
