Buena Vista Games' momma didn't raise no fool... of a company... which is a little weird when you think about a mother giving birth to a whole company. Especially when that mom is basically Walt Disney. Okay, let's just say BVG knows a good thing when they see it. They saw Q Entertainment's Lumines, saw how awesome it was, and jumped all over the chance to publish the game here in the states, taking the duty off Ubisoft, who probably didn't mind the minimal localization needed for the game.

The sequel, however, is localized out the ayass. Lumines II had its track list reworked for the US release (we now "get" artists like Missy Eliott, Gwen Stefani and Hoobastank and their videos playing in the background). The gameplay, however, hasn't changed much (and it didn't need to: Lumines was the most addictive puzzler since Tetris.

While BVG saw the opportunity to publish the Lumines sequel as a good thing, they were also keen on seeing if they could ride the wave of a possible new franchise, which is why they picked up Every Extend Extra, the music-infused shooter based on the freeware PC game Every Extend.

Lumines II and Every Extend Extra are both highly anticipated handheld video games that combine visceral puzzle gameplay with memorable music tracks,” claims Craig Relyea, VP of marketing for BVG. “These two games meld visuals and beats together to offer unequaled experiences for the PSP system.”

And there you have it. Both games hit yesterday and should be in stores by the time you finish reading this.
