What's old is new again - for EA, at least. Although EA isn't exactly known for mixing things up, they've decided to take a refreshing change of course by shipping EA Replay to stores throughout North America today. Replay is a compilation of several well-known titles that come from a simpler time, when losses were blamed on cheap combos rather than latency and network errors. Some of the more notable titles included in the package are Road Rash, Wing Commander and Ultima, although the full list can be found at the end of this article.
"We wanted to make a game that was authentic to EA's rich history of genre-defining IP," burped David McCarthy, Executive Producer on Replay. "EA Replay is loaded with classic visuals and audio that perfectly emulates the console gameplay you nostalgically remember, while at the same time, delivering a cutting-edge, on-the-go gaming experience."
That's not to say that the games will just be tossed together and sold in a new box - it appears EA is modifying these games as well, adding multiplayer functionality and unlockable bonus materials, as well as allowing you to save at any point, which is sure to make those tense battles in Wing Commander a bit less stressful than they were in the past.
Expect to pick this up in stores tomorrow for the cool price of $19.99, unless you live in Europe - where the collection ships on December 8th. Either way, you'll get these games for that Andrew Jackson:
B.O.B.
Budokan
Desert Strike
Jungle Strike
Haunting Starring Polterguy
Mutant League Football
Road Rash
Road Rash II
Road Rash III
Syndicate
Ultima™: The Black Gate
Virtual Pinball
Wing Commander
Wing Commander: Secret Missions
