Koei’s long running historical combat series goes gold on the PSP

The long running historical strategic combat series has officially gone gold for the PSP. Released December 16 in Japan, four days after the Japanese PSP launch, Dynasty Warriors is set to be released in tandem with the North American PSP launch on March 24.
Interesting things I find about this game are the bodyguard system that let you find hundreds of different bodyguards, Pokemon style and trade them via memory stick. Also, the newly developed battle system divides the massive levels into manageable samplings for shorter periods of play to contour to the needs of the systems short battery life and the estimated short time you’ll be playing on your bullet train and such.
Two unconfirmed hopes remain: the first whether the large in-game map-system will be removed from the domestic release (of which the game received criticism for, for taking up a quarter of the screen at all times), and whether Koei will release the very nice special edition they released in Japan with the “All In Guard” case and postcards.
Look for news on Dynasty Warriors as the game nears launch.
