Another Road to DBZ
Shin Budokai returns for Round 2 on the PSP.

You can almost imagine the thought process that went through some higher-ups’ head at Atari for this one. The next-generation handheld is still a fairly young but altogether lucrative one. Dragon Ball Z is one of the most widely recognized names in anime here in the states, and as history shows, fans won’t hesitate to make a mass flock to retail every time the franchise gets itself into a videogame.
So, uh, why not combine the two?
Today, that plan comes to fruition, with Atari announcing its latest barrage of portable DBZ madness. For PSP owners, it comes in the form of Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai: Another Road, the direct sequel to last year’s best-seller (see, what did we tell you!), Shin Budokai. The game finds players on the coattails of (future world) Trunks, in his on-going rivalry with Majin Buu. Awaiting you is a revamped fighting system complete with 50+ new fighting skills and ultimate attacks, with an expansive cast of heroes and baddies from the DBZ, Dragon Ball GI and Dragon Ball worlds at your service. Also back by popular demand are the heated Wi-Fi multiplayer battles, since hey, who doesn’t love kicking a friend’s butt on the go?
"Newcomers and faithful fans of DBZ will be thrilled with these two new handheld games," said Emily Anadu, Product Manager, Atari, Inc, also referring to Dragon Ball Z Harukanaru Densetsu for the Nintendo DS. "Shin Budokai: Another Road lets players take the DBZ universe over a Wi-Fi network with an exciting new story that is sure to grab long-time fans… Both games represent the innovation and evolution that characterize the DBZ experience and maintain the Dragon Ball Z reputation as one of the best anime and cartoon-based series of all time."
Dragon Ball Z: Another Roadb (with, oddly enough, co-development credits going to Dimps and Namco Bandai Games) sets forth on the path to retail on March 20, 2007, and you’d better remember it! Or else… or else… aw, heck, who are we kidding – we’ll be back to let you know once it’s out.
