D3PA in Bed with Dead Head Fred
No, not that kind of Deadhead.

We love hearing about projects like Dead Head Fred, a project so insanely surreal that we have to thank whoever picked the PSP as the final home for the game. See, Fred Neuman is dead, but then you probably gathered that from the title. What you probably didn't figure out (and if you did, we can use a psychic on staff) is that Fred has been brought back to life with no memory of how he was brutally slain. Headless, he must use the heads of his enemies to piece together the events that led up to his demise and exact revenge on his killers.
“D3PA’s focus is to find great intellectual properties that have unique gameplay elements, distinctive characters and environments that draw players into the game-world,” said Brian Christian, D3Publisher of America's vice president of product development. “Vicious Cycle has combined their creativity and cutting-edge technology so that Dead Head Fred delivers on all three counts and it has twisted humor that gamers are going to enjoy.”
“Vicious Cycle has a great working relationship with the team at D3PA and we are pleased to be collaborating with them on Dead Head Fred,” added Eric Peterson, president at Vicious Cycle. “D3PA has given us the time and freedom to create a game that will introduce compelling gameplay mechanics to the PSP system using the Vicious Engine. The combination of a completely original IP with our cutting-edge technology will deliver a game unlike anything before on the PSP system.”
Vicious Cycle and D3PA are promising "the most revolutionary camera to date on a handheld" (please be as good as Ico, please be as good as Ico...) and levels that take advantage of the specific powers given by using each of Fred's enemies' heads. We can't wait -- mainly because we're less than a week away from actually seeing what the game plays like. We'll have more then.
